What Does the Trade Dispute with China Mean to Economies and Markets?

The U.S. and China are in a seemingly never-ending tug of war over trade. In reality, the trade dispute masks a deeper issue, China’s global ambitions for world dominance politically, economically and militarily. Through trade surpluses and intellectual property theft, China has risen to be a rival to the previously unparalleled power of the U.S. In an effort to beat back this challenge, the U.S. is imposing tariffs to weaken China and retard their ambitions. Of course, China has no intention of slowing down their plans and thus the stalemate.
